Foreign Credential Evaluation Services
Foreign credential evaluation services help employers, universities, licensing boards, and immigration authorities understand how your international degree, diploma, or transcript compares to U.S. academic standards. At Translations Certified, we combine certified translation of your source documents with an evaluation report issued by an AICE (Association of International Credential Evaluators) member organization – so you receive one complete, institution-ready package instead of coordinating two separate vendors.

FAQ — Foreign Credential Evaluation Services
What's the difference between a General, Academic, and Course-by-Course evaluation?
A General Evaluation confirms accreditation and states your degree’s U.S. equivalent – typically enough for employment and immigration. An Academic Evaluation adds a cumulative GPA for select university admissions. A Course-by-Course Evaluation goes further, analyzing each course and calculating credit-hour equivalencies, usually required for licensure, transfer credit, or detailed transcript review.
Will my evaluation be accepted by USCIS, a university, or my employer?
Our evaluation reports are issued by an AICE member organization and are widely accepted by colleges, universities, employers, and government agencies nationwide. Acceptance is always at the discretion of the receiving institution, so we recommend confirming their specific requirements before you order.
Is the certified translation included, or is it a separate purchase?
Certified translation of your source documents is included in every Foreign Credential Evaluation package – you don’t need to order translation separately.
How long does a foreign credential evaluation take?
General Evaluations are typically completed within 10 business days. Academic and Course-by-Course Evaluations are typically completed within 15 business days. Timelines begin once we’ve received your payment and all required documents.
What documents do I need to submit?
At minimum: your full name, the purpose of the evaluation, proof of identity, and a properly scanned copy of your diploma or degree. Academic and Course-by-Course Evaluations also require official transcripts. See our full guide for the complete checklist by evaluation type.
What if I've used a different name on my academic documents?
Let us know when you place your order. We’ll need your name-change documentation, translated into English if it isn’t already, so your evaluation and translation match your current legal name.
Do I need to mail in my original documents?
No. You can upload clear scans or high-quality photos of your diploma and transcripts online, and our team handles the rest remotely. Physical copies of your translated documents or evaluation report are available on request and billed separately.
Is this the same as your Credential Evaluation Translation service?
No. Our Credential Evaluation Translation service (from $14.50/page) is for clients who only need their academic documents translated to submit to an evaluator of their choice. This Foreign Credential Evaluation service includes both the certified translation and the evaluation report itself, issued by an AICE member organization, as one coordinated package.
Is a certified translation mandatory for submitting international legal documents to government agencies?
Government agencies in the U.S. require certified translations for any document that is not in English.
This applies to legal documents such as contracts, court records, and civil documents. A certified translation confirms that the content is accurate and complete, which is essential for official review and acceptance.
How quickly can I receive a notarized translation for a foreign degree or diploma?
Most certified translations are completed within 24 to 48 hours, depending on document length.
If notarization is required, it can be added to your order with minimal delay. Rush delivery options are available for urgent academic or immigration deadlines, allowing you to receive your notarized translation as quickly as possible.
Where can I get a certified translation of a birth certificate for USCIS requirements?
You can obtain a certified birth certificate translation directly through Translations Certified.
Our translations are USCIS-approved and include a signed Certificate of Accuracy, ensuring they meet all official requirements. The process is fully online, and pricing starts at $14.50 per page, with fast turnaround times.
